Mrs. H. F. Herzog, Camp Strongheart Founder, Is Dead
MINOCQUA -— (By News Correspondent)-— Mrs. Harriet Frieler Herzog, cofounder of Camp Strongheart on Lake Tomahawk, died Saturday in Chicago. She was 79.
Born Dec. 11, 1872, in Elgin, Ill., Mrs. Herzog was married in 1895 in Chicago to the late Nathan Herzog. The couple came to Minocqua in 1924 and founded Camp Strongheart. The camp now is managed by a son, Sanford.
Mrs. Herzog was a member of the Chicago Women’s Aid, Council of Jewish Women, Isaih Israel Sisterhood, Round Table of Christians and Jews, American Camping Association, Music Association of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Audubon Society and several literary societies.
She is survived by her son, Sanford of Minocqua, and a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Serby of Chicago. Interment will be in Mount Isaih Cemetery, Chicago.
